Day 2 and an early, delicious breakfast, was followed by a scenic drive down to the Mornington Peninsula where we arrived at Sara's beach house at Mt Martha for a BEAUTIFUL DAY AT THE BEACH. Here are Francesca and Jason on the balcony at the beach house, with the bay behind, and juice in hand. Thanks to Sara for asking us to come down! Grace was also there, and a cousin of Sara's who was very lovely, but I don't know how to spell her name.We had a leisurely lunch, lazed around the house a bit, and once the danger 11-3 high-sun time had passed, we headed down to the beach. The water was cool, the sand soft, you could go for ages out into the sea and it stayed calm and shallow. Jason kept saying the water was salty. I kept telling him is was the sea.
There's not much more to say about the beach. It was hot and sunny. The sky was blue. The water was lovely. We all got browner. We had a minor ice cream tragedy (the truck was there when we came out of the water, but it was gone by the time we walked over!)
Oh, Jason stole my sarong. Bastard.

We reluctantly left the beach for a nice drive home where Francesca went to sleep, then we took her out for dinner, wandering down past the MCG, through Birrarung Marr, by the river and to Fed Square for an al fresco donburi dinner at Chocolate Buddha. And followed it up with a nice coffee at Brunetti. Also al fresco - the night was fresh and cool (today was supposed to be 42 degrees, so we were enjoying it while it lasted, but it's turned out to only be 38)

Anyway, I should go now. NYE dinner guests tonight - the lovely bridesmaids (and Andy), and Jason is busy cooking while I am typing away here. I might have a shower, stir my ice cream (strawberry and balsamic vinegar, solidifying in the freezer as we speak), then go and watch as he fries the aubergine for the moulignana tonight! I attach a sneak peek to tempt you, and there will be NYE photos tomorrow...
